Why is Canada the top-destination for skilled workers and international students today? One key factor is its merit-centric immigration system. If you have language proficiency is CLB 7 or higher  and you have more than three years of experience, then you get 25 points higher than somebody with a lower score on language proficiency.

The 50-200 point boost through job offer and 600 point boost through provincial nomination grab all the highlight. However, these seemingly minor points can, if combined smartly, boost your CRS score and improve your chances of getting an ITA.

Hope is Not a Strategy

Merely hoping that there will be a massive draw for FSWP applicants once normalcy resumes or even hoping for another huge CEC draw is not a strategy.

To make your immigration dream come true, you need have a clear path leading to your goal. Not eligible under any skilled worker program? Find out where you are lacking.

Is your language proficiency pulling you down? Then that’s an area where you must work hard and boost your CLB/NCLC ranking. If you are going to work on language, then add French to your skills to boost your chances of qualifying for the Francophone work permit.

This can help you bypass the disadvantage of no work experience in Canada as well. Instead of just waiting to get an ITA, you can focus on the Francophone work permit and then use the Canadian work experience to easily qualify for permanent residence through Express Entry or any PNP stream.

Finding the Right Province for You is Key

Tech workers may love Ontario but that doesn’t mean you too should stick to that province only. Ontario’s home to one of the fastest-growing tech ecosystems in North America. So, it’s pretty natural for tech workers to hesitate to look beyond the Greater Toronto Area.

But what’s the point of sticking to Ontario if you are an energy professional or have a degree related to the bioscience sector? If you are the former, then Alberta is the smartest choice while the Atlantic provinces may offer the best opportunity for permanent residence if you work in the latter sector.
