The unification of families is one of the most common types of immigration to Canada. Certain family members may be eligible to move in with you if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
It’s possible that you can bring your family with you if you’re temporarily working or studying in Canada!
Family sponsorship
You might be able to sponsor some members of your family to immigrate to Canada once you become a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. It’s known as family sponsorship. After economic immigration, family sponsorship accounts for the majority of immigration to Canada.
Three different sorts of relatives are eligible for family sponsorship:
- Spouse or common-law partner
- Dependent children
- Parents or grandparents
In order to qualify, you must be at least 18 years old and earn enough money to support any family you intend to bring to Canada. A family member who is sponsored by you acquires permanent residency status in Canada.
You may sponsor the immigration to Canada of your spouse or partner’s dependent children if you are financing their entry into the country.
Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents
The Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Programme has a finite number of spots. Families who are interested in applying must fill out an online form. Every year, lotteries are held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), inviting particular applicants to submit applications.
The Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents is a solution provided by IRCC to make up for the program’s size restriction. Your parents or grandparents may enter Canada on one visit and remain there for up to two years with this multiple-entry visa, which has a maximum 10-year validity period. To be eligible for the Super Visa, your parents or grandparents must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
The Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents does not grant your parents permanent resident status, in contrast to the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Programme.
Temporary Workers
Your spouse and dependent children may be allowed to go with you to Canada if you have a work permit application in progress and a legitimate job offer from a Canadian business.
If your kids are old enough to go to school, they can enroll in Canadian schools without a separate study permit. Your spouse or partner might also be qualified to apply for an open work visa, which would let them work for any Canadian firm.
International Students
If you are admitted to a Canadian university, you are permitted to apply for a study visa on behalf of your spouse and dependent children. As with temporary employees, wives and dependent children of international students are eligible to apply for an open work permit and study in Canada.
