Canada Promises to Invest $75 Million Over The Next Five Years to Increase Immigration From The Indo-Pacific Region.

In order to improve its capacity to handle immigration requests from both within Canada and the Indo-Pacific region, the Canadian government will invest $74.6 million, along with an additional $15.7 million in ongoing capital, according to Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser.

The immigration minister stated that the Indo-Pacific area “is crucial for Canada’s immigration and will be in the future.”

“Today’s announcement delivers major new cash to help increase Canada’s capacity for processing visa applications at home and overseas. This money will support increased diversity among people seeking to visit, study, work, or reside in Canada as we aim to see growth in admissions in the upcoming years.

India is by far the biggest source of new permanent residents to Canada, according to the most recent data from Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

India provided 99,620 new permanent residents to Canada in the first nine months of this year, putting it on track to contribute 132,877 new residents, or more than 28.1% of Canada’s anticipated total immigration of 471,787 new permanent residents, this year.

And the Indo-Pacific area consists of only 40 nations, including India.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly added, “Canada has a stake in creating the future of the Indo-Pacific region, which really is our future.

The top three countries sending legal immigrants to Canada last year were India, China, and the Philippines, which together amounted for 44% over all immigration to the nation.

By recruiting 471,787 new legal immigrants this year, immigration to Canada is on pace to set a new record.

The target immigration level for 2023–2025, which was just published, is 465,000, which is fewer than the anticipated amount of new legal immigrants the nation will receive this year.

The country hopes to welcome 500,000 new permanent residents by the end of 2025. The immigration objective for 2024 is 485,000 new permanent residents.

Business executives are thrilled with the increased immigration numbers because they see in them a chance to address the severe labour shortages that exist across the nation.

The Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and the International Mobility Program allow Canadian firms to hire and recruit foreign workers (IMP).

Under typical processing conditions, the Global Talent Stream (GTS), a component of the TFWP, can lead in the approval of visa applicants and the granting of Canadian work permits in under two weeks.
